Who is not aware of the sweet, thick, and golden syrup which honeybees make by travelling miles from flower to flower? Yes, you got that right! Honey- A Miraculous Thing, is made with so much effort by these small honeybees and this effort pays off in many ways. Honey is loved worldwide and used in many foods for its sweetness but that is not the only use of this miraculous syrup! Let us see what more it has got in it together with some interesting facts. 

Archeologists have found fossilized honeycombs which date back to three million years proving that honeybees have been producing honey for a long time.

Honey is one of the few foods which does not spoil! It is naturally very acidic and due to its low moisture level bacteria like mould have difficulty in growing in it. 3,000 years old honey was found in research in an Egyptian tomb which was still edible! This shows that honey is an eternal food.

The Egyptian pharaoh, Rameses III gave a honey sacrifice to a river god by dumping 30,000 lbs. of honey in the river Nile! That is too much sweetness!

Honey was regarded as a symbol of blessings and happiness in ancient Greek civilizations which is why they used to offer it to the spirits of dead people at funerals.

Honey has a variety of flavours, smells, and colours depending on where the honeybees collect the nectar from! Some French beekeepers found blue and green honey in 2012 which was because the bees were collecting nectar from the waste from a factory producing M&Ms!
