Age to Date of Birth Calculator

The Age to Date of Birth Calculator helps you estimate a person’s Date of Birth (DOB) when you know their age in years and, if available, additional months.

Simply enter the person’s age in years and optionally enter the number of additional months. Then click Calculate DOB to get the estimated date of birth.

How to Use the Calculator

Enter the person’s age in the Age in Years box. If the person is also a few months older than the entered number of complete years, enter those months in the Additional Months box.

The months field is optional and accepts values from 0 to 11 months.

For example, if a person is 65 years old, enter:

Years: 65

Leave the months field empty and click Calculate DOB.

The calculator will estimate the Date of Birth as:

January 1, 1961

This is because the calculator assumes January 1 when only the person’s age in complete years is known.

Example with Months

Suppose a person is 65 years and 4 months old.

Enter:

Years: 65

Months: 4

The calculator will estimate the person’s DOB as:

September 1, 1960

In this case, the calculator first determines the birth year and then subtracts the additional four months.

Another Example

If a person is 50 years and 6 months old, enter:

Years: 50

Months: 6

The estimated DOB will be:

July 1, 1976

Why Is January 1 Used?

When only a person’s age in years is known, their exact day and month of birth cannot be determined from their age alone.

For this reason, the calculator uses January 1 as an assumed birth date. This provides a consistent estimated DOB rather than presenting an unknown date as an exact date.

Clear Screen

After obtaining a result, click the Clear Screen button to remove the entered age, clear the result, and automatically place the cursor back in the Age in Years box. You can then immediately enter another person’s age.

Important Note

This calculator provides an estimated Date of Birth, not necessarily the person’s actual DOB. The exact DOB can only be determined when the person’s actual date of birth or an official record is available.

The calculation is intended for situations where a person’s age is known but their exact date of birth is not.
